Hokejka – Lomnický štít

Hokejka is probably one of the most famous routes in Tatra Mountains. Hard to say whether it is its beauty, its myth or the fact that nowadays the Skalnaté pleso ski lifts made it so accesible that it experiences regular overcrowding. Don’t be deceived by any grade visible on the topo. The route is challenging from start to finish and the crux is much harder than VI+. Thank god they have a good espresso at the top of Lomnický štít!

Difficulty: VI+
Length: 350 m
Commitment: 2/5
Duration: 1 Day

The approach (mostly descent) to the west face of Lomnický štít is airy and demanding.
First pitches are easy but the rock is compact and good quality.
The first harder place is the "Cross Traverse". It requires a sense of balance and good footwork.
Then the terain gets easier again.
Another hard place is the overhanging dihedral. Easier if you're tall enough to grab the jugs from good foot holds.
The route is a classic, so it's crowded most of the time.
